Chris Sutton, the former Celtic striker, has never been one to mince his words, and his recent comments on Sead Haksabanovic’s social media outburst are no exception. Sutton’s blunt assessment of the situation is spot on, and it’s high time someone said it.

Over the weekend, Haksabanovic took to Instagram to vent his frustrations about not getting enough playing time at Celtic. His post read, “If they don’t see your value, maybe you’re not at the right place.” It’s a cryptic message that leaves little to the imagination, and it’s a move that has rightly irked Sutton.

Speaking to RecordSport, Sutton didn’t hold back: “He is an idiot really, isn’t he? I don’t know what he is thinking. If you have a problem go and knock on the manager’s door. I can understand his frustration. You know, he feels he hasn’t played enough games and started enough games.”

Sutton’s point is clear: if you have an issue, deal with it like a professional. The dressing room is no place for airing dirty laundry, especially not in a public forum like Instagram. It undermines team morale and creates unnecessary tension.

Sutton continued, “Ange Postecoglou brought him in and didn’t start him in a lot of games and there is a reason. As a player, the bottom line is you need to earn the right. There is a strong argument to say he hasn’t earned the right. Do the talking on the pitch, but no that wouldn’t have gone down well in our dressing room. I will never understand that.”

Sead Haksabanovic Celtic

The former Celtic man is absolutely correct. If Haksabanovic feels he’s not getting the playing time he deserves, the onus is on him to prove his worth on the pitch. Anything less is just noise and a distraction the team doesn’t need.

Sutton concluded, “If I was a current player I wouldn’t go on social media and I certainly wouldn’t try to be cryptic about it. Just front up and bang on the manager’s door and tell him you aren’t happy, then he can possibly tell you that you haven’t been good enough and you are hopeless and move him out if that is the case.”

In a week when the transfer window is set to shut on Friday, the best course of action for both parties is for Sead Haksabanovic to move on. If he’s unwilling to fight for his place in the team and would rather take his grievances to social media, then maybe he isn’t at the right place. Celtic is a club with a rich history and a strong sense of community; there’s no room for players who don’t understand that.
