Hibernian defender Paul McGinn will miss his side’s trip to Celtic Park on Monday evening, after his comments regarding referee John Beaton’s performance in last months Premier Sports cup final clash.

The two sides last faced off at Hampden Park, with the Hoops coming out on top thanks to a Kyogo Furuhashi double, which handed Ange Postecoglou his first trophy as manager of the club.

However, the Hibs defender was left unimpressed by the referee’s performance on the afternoon, labelling it as ‘inept’ in his post-match press conference.

As reported by the Daily Record, McGinn will now join fellow teammate Ryan Porteous on the sidelines as Shaun Maloney’s new-look side take on Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic.

It should certainly be an intriguing fixture on Monday night, with full house crowds set to return and both teams looking to jump straight back into action with a win to kick things off after the winter break.

However, Hibs will have to do so without McGinn.
