Steven Gerrard has warned Celtic they’re up against a side in no mood roll over.

The Ibrox manager praises his side for winning their last four SPFL games but then almost belittles Celtic winning their last run of games against SPFL side in pretty much the same breath.

“Since our setback in the Betfred Cup the players have delivered 12 points out of 12, scored nine goals and conceded one, so our reaction and response has been fantastic so we go into this game confident and in a good place.

“Celtic have obviously won their last couple of games, against Hamilton, Ross County and Dundee United – but they’re playing Rangers and it’s a different challenge for them and a different challenge for us and it’s one we’re looking forward to.” Gerrard told RecordSport.

So, Celtic winning their SPFL games is no great shakes but his side deserve so much praise for their domestic wins. The sort of uneven tribalism Gerrard indulges in more often than not. The same kind of thinking which made the Gers manager tell the world his striker Alfredo Morelos didn’t elbow a player in the face, when in fact that’s exactly what he did.

Celtic have had a shaky season and credit to Gerrard’s side, they’ve not lost a game in the league yet. It’s up to Celtic to find a way.

It’s going to be very difficult but the bhoys have the experience. We’ve not seen a good performance against this side since Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes scored the goals that claimed a good victory at Ibrox last season.
