Brighton have got off to a flying start in the Premier League this season, with a surprise player receiving praise. Shane Duffy has been a rock at the back for the Seagulls and has even chipped in with a goal.

The Irish international has played all four games of the new league campaign, with him and his defence keeping a clean sheet in two of their opening games. He has also impressed on the international stage, scoring in Ireland 1-1 draw against Azerbaijan.

After a tough season in Glasgow, Duffy seems to have found his form and is now making an imprint on the English league. Teammate Lewis Dunk is just one of many who has been full of recognition of the defender.

“I am buzzing for him. Everyone knows he has had a tough time on and off the pitch. He obviously struggled up in Scotland and it was not nice for him, it wasn’t nice to see my mate like that and he has come back in pre-season and earned the right to play. ” Shane Duffy’s defensive partner told Sussex Live.

All credit to him for bouncing back and coming from a bad place to do what he is doing now is excellent. He showed in the international break what a good player he is for the Republic of Ireland as well as here. I am buzzing to have him alongside me and it is a pleasure to have him back.”

Shane Duffy has filled the gap of Ben White who left the coastal team for Arsenal this summer for a whopping £50 million. Brighton currently sits ten places above the Gunners in the Premier League table.
