I know fans are sick to death of updates as we still await the most important update of all on Eddie Howe: Celtic’s confirmation.
While the club remains tight lipped on the subject of Neil Lennon’s replacement, the media have been drip fed information and it all points to an Eddie Howe appointment.
We’ve heard and read the sources but none of them can tell us why the deal can’t be confirmed. It’s all conjecture and speculation but what most people do agree on is Celtic have landed their man and it’s just a matter of time.
Davie Provan isn’t many Celtic fan’s cup of tea these days but he makes a compelling argument on Go Radio around the whole situation.
Knowing the club well and knowing Dermot Desmond and the way he operates – Provan concluded there’s absolutely no way the Eddie Howe chat would be allowed to continue unchallenged by the club if it wasn’t going to happen.
“I don’t think for a moment Dermot Desmond would have exposed himself to the possibility of being embarrassed by Eddie Howe. And Eddie Howe himself has chosen not to rule himself out.
“So reading between the lines I think there’s an agreement, I think it’s a done deal.
“I’m pretty sure Celtic will be working away in the background to beef that squad up because it’s going to be a wholesale change of the type that we haven’t seen for a long, long time.”
For what it’s worth, we think Davie is spot on with this.
