Ibrox flop James Sands has lifted the lid on the dinner with Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers that put him and his former Gers teammate Malik Tillman in the bad books with their support.

Sands had his loan cut short with the Ibrox club after failing to help the club conquer Celtic.

The American revealed he was in hot water and learned not to go out after a Glasgow Derby game, especially if you’re on the receiving end of a 4-0 thrashing.

Sands, Tillman and CCV were invited out by the American coach who was in town to watch all three play in the derby. While grabbing something to eat, an onlooker took a photo of them all at the dinner table.

The online Ibrox support went into meltdown at the time. Smarting over being blown away by Celtic earlier in the day, they couldn’t believe their players were now dining with one of the Celtic stars responsible for the defeat.

Speaking to Podcast On Frame, He recalled: “It’s not easy moments, I lived in a good area but once you go into the city centre after you lose the game, it’s not easy. There was one game where we lost to Celtic and Gregg Berhalter was over watching and he asked me, Malik and Carter-Vickers (for dinner).

“That sort of thing did not go down well with the fans. But that is the sort of thing you learn from, I left all the green at home, it’s great being in that city as they love their teams.”

James got to watch as Celtic won the League Cup final before heading back to the States.

Celtic’s dominance in the fixture since Ange Postecoglou has come in is there for all to see. The last time the Ibrox club managed a win against Celtic in the league was August 2021, just over a month after Ange came to the club.

Sands did harp on about the quality of the SPFL, but as someone who has never won it, he should maybe pipe down.
