CELTIC fell to defeat in Leipzig midweek, despite putting on a good show for some spells throughout the match.

The reaction online was over the top, and the result needs some perspective. We faced a really good team who’ve been in some great form. No one ever expected to win the match, but the manner in which we lost it was frustrating. But again, had we not pushed Leipzig and kept attacking them, we’d probably have left without scoring a goal.

We’re in the Champions League competing against some of the greatest Europe has to offer, and Celtic are still in with a chance to progress into the next round, just two home wins away from doing so.

The reality is, Celtic aren’t as good as the fans think they are, and it will take time to go to Leipzig and win. Under Ange, that will be an achievable aim, but it doesn’t just happen in the space of a couple months.

Ange is urging fans to remain patient, admitting he’s no miracle worker and is looking at the end goal knowing that there is still a few years worth of work to do before he can make Celtic one of the better teams in the competition. [Celtic TV]

“Yeah, absolutely [it’s going to take time to succeed at Champions League level].

“I’m no miracle worker, it’s not like I’ve taken over a club that’s consistently been in the semi finals of the Champions League. It does. We’re not the only club in that situation, to be fair. There are a lot of clubs like us who want to make an impact at Champions League level.

“But, as I said last week, there’s a process of getting there. The clubs of our size that eventually get these take their time.

“I’d love to fast track the process – that’s what I’m trying to do. I think the way you make greater progress is being brave and bold and not looking to survive.”

From 25 points off the top of the league when Ange took over to disappointed not to get a result in Germany against a team that finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season; it just shows what a job Ange has done so far, and is continuing to do.
