Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has provided fans with the latest update on injured trio Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh and Jota after all three players were forced off through injury in the 1-0 victory over Hearts.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Postecoglou confirmed that all three players are major doubts heading into Sunday’s trip to face Dundee United at Tannadice, with it looking extremely likely they will all miss out.

He said: “We’re still waiting on the outcomes of it. But I’d suggest all three are doubtful for the weekend. As to the extent, I’ll just wait until we get some sort of confirmation.

“We lost Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic for a period, and we didn’t let that affect results. We’re better placed this time. We don’t want to lose the players we’ve lost, but the opportunity is there for guys to come in.”

It was disappointing and frustrating to lose yet more players to injury, with Carl Starfelt and Tom Rogic just coming off the back of their individual knocks.

Defensively, we look in okay shape without Ralston and Welsh, given Starfelt’s return and the expectation that Cameron Carter Vickers will be back for Sunday’s game. We will also likely see full-back Josip Juranovic switch to his more natural right-back position.

Postecoglou has some options on the wing, with either Liel Abada or Mikey Johnston waiting to come into the side. However, it is extremely unlikely we will see either of these players add the contribution Jota makes, becoming a key man over the last few months.

Hopefully, we can hear more about the three players injuries in due course, with every supporter keeping their fingers crossed that it is nothing long-term.
