Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has opened up on the brilliant moment he scored his first goal for the club, after joining from English League One side MK Dons during the January transfer window.

The 21-year old has made a superb start to life under Ange Postecoglou, enjoying his role in the midfield, which has continued the Hoops fine run of form in recent months.

O’Riley was also able to open his Celtic account, scoring his first goal during the 3-2 away victory against Aberdeen, which proved to be a crucial three points for Postecoglou’s side.

Speaking in a question and answer session on the club’s social media account this afternoon, O’Riley opened up on the moment he scored his first goal for the club, stating how much he enjoyed the moment, celebrating in front of the travelling Celtic support.

A key aspect of Postecoglou’s new look Celtic side has been the number of goals scored from all over the park, which has proved crucial throughout the season.

O’Riley has joined that list of players, seamlessly slotting into the midfield alongside the likes of Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate.

It just goes to show the strength, and depth Celtic currently have when we were able to introduce a player with O’Riley’s talents on Sunday afternoon when the game was effectively already won.
