LEO HJLELDE has slammed the previous Celtic regime for the uninspiring training methods he was subjected to during his time at the club.

Leo was sold in the summer, pushing through a transfer to Leeds much to the disappointment of many Celtic supporters who wished to see him develop as a first-team member this season.

By the time Ange Postecoglou touched down in Scotland, Leo’s mind was already made up and he wanted to go.

Speaking about the training and how much different it is to Leeds, the youngster claimed it’s a completely different level.

“I was told that I had to lose a few kilos to become a Premier League player.[By Leeds] You have weight goals, so I was told to lose a few kilos to be at the weight they wanted.” Leo told RecordSport.

“At Celtic, I was told that I was too light. I ate a little more, and the workouts were nowhere near as hard. It was a shock to come from Scotland. It is a completely different level here. I have received good backing from the club and the players around me.

“There is a lot of running. Training is brutal at times.”

The stories of Hjelde aren’t unique in this regard. CeltsAreHere was informed by a highly credible source that Lennon’s training fell far short of that of his predecessor, Brendan Rodgers.

If Leo had remained for the Ange era, he might have been pleasantly surprised. Ange has clearly upped the tempo and intensity. It was not to be in the end, and the defender’s decision has already been somewhat validated – Leo made his Premier League debut for Leeds on Saturday.
