CELTIC has today announced a contract extension for back up goalkeeper Scott Bain.

The bhoys have handed the Scottish goalkeeper a deal taking Scott until the summer of 2024.

There are fans who will be miffed by the decision to give Scott a new deal, however, given he’s our direct back up goalkeeper and the Hoops want to get rid of Vasilis Barkas, it makes sense to have your back up secured.

Speaking after signing the extension, Scott told Celticfc.com: “I am delighted to agree this new contract extension. It is a privilege to be part of this great club and I am so pleased to extend my future at Celtic.

“We have already had success under the new manager, it is fantastic working with him and the rest of our backroom team, and I want to join them and the other players at the club in working hard to achieve more and more success for our fans.”

Bain has been in and out of the team since he first came to the club in 2018.

As a back up goalkeeper, he’s done not too bad but the 30-year-old should never be considered a first team keeper at Celtic.

Joe Hart has become Celtic’s number one and has become a massive figure among the support and the dressing room.

Congratulations to Scott for securing a new deal. As we said at the top, this hopefully paves the way for Barkas departure.
