GORDON STRACHAN was part of the panel interviewing Ange Postecoglou after his side progressed to the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup, beating St Mirren 5-1.

30th October 2022 ; Almondvale Stadium, Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland: Scottish Premier League football, Livingstone versus Celtic: Celtic coach Gavin Strachan

His son, Gavin Strachan, was brought to the club by Neil Lennon a few years ago and has remained in his position ever since. Ange postecoglou has been impressed by all of his backroom team, ensuring they’re credited with the success Celtic has on the field.

Ange’s style of play requires his players to be as fit as a fiddle, but Gordon Strachan has noticed a difference in his son, claiming he’s lost a stone since Postecoglou took over at Celtic.

While working with Viaplay, Gordon Strachan said to the Celtic boss:

“More importantly, your fitness levels are fantastic; how has Gavin lost at least a stone? It’s incredible. We’re wondering how you’ve done that. To take your team up to that fitness level and your coaching staff, that’s absolutely fantastic.”

Ange Postecoglou replied:

“I’m not going to have a shot at any of my coaching staff or their fitness levels; I’m the last one to talk about that.

‘It’s something we pride ourselves on. A lot of people talk about our football but in terms of the actual lads themselves, they work so hard”

Celtic weren’t at their best as they overcame St Mirren, who, in fairness, gave it a good go and pressed Celtic higher up the pitch. In the end, Celtic’s quality shone through, and they were able to get their name in the hat for Monday night’s draw.
