Karim Benzema won the Ballon d’or after an incredible season for Real Madrid. The Frenchman has been absolutely lethal in front of goal and deserved his award.

At the beginning of Celtic’s Champions League adventure, Karim and Real Madrid came to town as European Champions.

The Spanish side would eventually beat Celtic 3-0 on the night, but not before the bhoys gave the Spaniards a scare.

Benzema wouldn’t have a say in the outcome of the match after going off injured in the first half of the tie. It would be his replacement Eden Hazard who would help the European champs overcome Celtic.

Moritz Jenz played that night up against Benzema at first alongside CCV. Jenz’s wife congratulated Benzema on her Instagram story, just so she could let everyone know Moritz and CCV ‘pocketed’ the Frenchman at Celtic Park!

Technically, the pair did deal with the Ballon d’or winner while on the park 😂

Celtic’s Champions League campaign hasn’t shaken out the way we would’ve liked. The golden opportunity to get three points on the board against Shakhtar away from home has come back to haunt us. We’ve competed in the group but failed to turn performances into points. It will take a massive effort to even get a Europa League place with two games to go.

Ange Postecoglou has made it clear he wants this team to grow and come back into the competition next year to have another go.
