Celtic ‘keeper Joe Hart made a pivotal save at the end of the Hoops’ narrow 1-0 win over Ross County at the weekend. Late on, the Englishman was called into action to deny Jordan white after a well-worked Staggies breakaway.

Fortunately for the Celts, Hart was alert and ensured no points were dropped.

Throughout his time at the club, the number one has brought stability between the sticks. During the fabled 2020/21 season, The Bhoys struggled to find a consistent ‘keeper.

Hart has proved a solid solution over the past two and a half years, but he could soon be set to end his time at the club.

This summer, his contract is due to expire and at 36, he is no spring chicken. It remains to be seen whether Hart will continue playing into next season, but one imagines it won’t be in Glasgow if he does.

A new stopper could be on the cards for Brendan Rodgers and post-match on Saturday, the former Manchester City ‘keeper was asked about his future: “I don’t think it’s too important at the moment if I’m honest”, he said (Glasgow Times).

“We have far more important things to focus on.

“From the moment I came up here, I’ve always said I’m just looking forward to playing football and not really thinking about that side of it.”

Hart clearly has his mind on on-the-pitch matters. He is strictly focusing on his football, but one can’t get away from his age and contractual situation.

All indications point towards Celtic bringing in a new ‘keeper come the summer to replace Hart, and it would come as somewhat of a shock if the treble-winner was to extend his current deal at the club.

  1. Already gained 5 extra medals for himself and hopefully will make it 7 by the end of the season.
Been a great servant for the club, even if past his best now and showing signs of that quality expected is slipping now, yet his concentration levels remain intact when having to go long periods without being involved within a game but can still pull off big saves when required.
Been a brilliant signing for ourselves, but time should come to an end at the close of the season.
Still wondering if Hart might be interested in taking up a keeper coaching role within the club, especially as we still can’t seem to produce a keeper whatsoever from within the club?
