Many Celtic fans will have noticed that during the Hoops pre-season friendlies, Joe Hart appears to be even further forward than he was last season with the ball at his feet.

The Hoops pre-season action closed with a 2-0 victory against Norwich City with goals coming from Daizen Maeda and David Turnbull.

There was a lot of positives to take from the match but one thing that appears to be worrying Celtic fans is the role which Joe Hart is now playing.

You can’t look too far into pre-season friendlies as a barometer to where the team is at but there has been some very poor goals conceded with Hart getting away with some suspect moments.

The way that the former England international was playing at the weekend was highlighted on Twitter by @WUAnalysis which showed Hart’s pass locations in the first half from open play which almost showed him to be playing as the middle of a back three.

There are some keepers in world football that specialise in this type of play with Allison and Ederson being the leading examples in the English Premier League.

During the majority of league games at Celtic Park, the Hoops will have a lot of the ball meaning that Hart needs to be constantly switched on and will at times be involved in the play.

However, the worry is only takes the opposition one chance from a mistake to punish Celtic if Hart is way off his goal line which Scotland fans will have PTSD from after watching the position David Marshall took up that gifted the Czech Republic a goal at the Euros.

As Postecoglou’s side prepare to head into the Champions League where the Celts will take on some of the best opposition and players in world football many Celtic fans could be in for a long night and have a shortage of nails if the 35-year old continues to take up such positions.
