Celtic’s Benfica bhoy Jota was the man of the moment on Sunday when he timed his run to perfection after Adam Montogomery provided a superb assist.

The result was another goal for the winger and all three points for Celtic.

The loan bhoy has impressed since making the move on deadline day back at the end of August. It’s clear he’s enjoying his football and his attitude to this point has been fantastic.

Jota seems to have an amazing engine; able to keep going to the final whistle. Not easy for a young lad who wasn’t playing 90 minutes week in week out over the past year.

Celtic appear to have landed a gem that can still improve and contribute greatly to the club’s season.

After the game, Jota was delighted with the result and praised his teammates.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the winger said: “I’m very happy that we could win this game. We were looking to win this game with our process and our ideas and it was definitely a hard game that brought us the victory.

”I’m delighted to have scored the winning goal, but I only did that with the help of the team, because we are a strong team and we fight for everything.

“I’m just glad that I’m in this amazing group of boys that fight for each other, and I got the goal, so I’m very happy.”

Jota added: “It shows that we are a team that is looking forward to winning games, to good things in football in this league and we just have to stick with each other, fight for each other because we are a family, and achieve the goals.

“Every time we win, it’s like that, but we keep our feet on the ground as we still have to work a lot, because this is just a victory and the championship is long.

“So, we just have to rest just now because of the international break and then come stronger.”

A hard fought victory like that can really turn a season and give the players a belief and real bond. Winning 6-0 at times is great but doesn’t really tell you anything about the character of your team. If the players know everyone on that pitch is in it together and is fighting for each other, results will come.

It’s not just about building a team full of players, it’s rebuilding the winning mentality and the togetherness that was obliterated in the past 18 months.
