Journalist Stephen McGowan has claimed that Fergal Harkin wouldn’t have worked with former managerial target Eddie Howe, but now the possibility of joining the club is back on.

Speaking on Go Radio, McGowan has claimed that Howe would have picked his backroom staff, and he doesn’t believe that Harkin would be part of those plans.

With the move for the former Bournemouth manager off, McGowan thinks it could be a possibility that the Man City man makes his move to the Hoops.

“I don’t think that was an issue. I think Celtic made it clear that he [Howe] could pick his own backroom team. I don’t think Eddie Howe would’ve wanted Fergal Harkin, I saw Fergal Harkin and speculation that he was possibly an option to come in with an Enzo Maresca as a Plan B if they couldn’t get Eddie Howe.

“I don’t think he was ever going to work with Eddie Howe. I think Eddie Howe was quite determined to get his own team in. Will they turn to Fergal Harkin now? Possibly, all bets are off.”

Harkin’s name has recently resurfaced.

After speculation, it appeared to go quiet on the Director of Football front.

But with the news that he rejected a move to Belgian club Lommel SK and Celtic looking like they are going to appoint Ange Postecoglou, who manages at a part of the City Group, it points towards the possibility of Harkin having some involvement.

In the coming weeks, fingers crossed that we will know for sure and be provided with some clarity that is badly needed on the whole situation.
