JOSIP JURANOVIC started on the bench at the weekend, with Anthony Ralston coming in for a rare league start.

The Croatian full-back has come under some criticism lately, with some supporters believing his performances have dipped after such a great first season with the club.

Like clockwork, fans have demanded Tony Ralston be handed a run of games in the team, but, it’s got to be said, that doesn’t look likely.

The competition for places in the Celtic squad is great at the moment. With at least two players for every position, starters can’t get too comfortable, or Postecoglou will just swap them out.

Ahead of Celtic’s cup clash against Motherwell, Joisp Juranovic was in front of the press. Opening up about the battle for places, the player said; [Celtic TV]

“We have a great squad – around 28 players. Everybody needs a chance; everybody wants the opportunity to play for an amazing club like Celtic.

“I think, whoever plays, we show we have great players who are waiting, and they will do everything to win the matches.”

You’d assume with Tony starting on Saturday and Josip getting a rest, Juranovic will get the nod from the manager as he looks to get some of the Celtic supporters off his back.
