Keith Jackson wrote in a recent column that inside the corridors of Ibrox, there are people who believe Neil Doncaster is a man in his position to facilitate Celtic chairman Peter Lawwell and Celtic.

According to Jackson, The Rangers believe that the leaders of the SPFL are only in their positions to promote the interests of Celtic, their main rivals. However, it is important to investigate and disprove this baseless idea thoroughly.

Jackson writes: ‘Let’s be absolutely blunt. For some years now there has been a strongly held belief inside the command centre at Ibrox that Doncaster and McLennan have been cleverly and deliberately placed in positions of power in order to facilitate the orders of Celtic’s Peter Lawwell.’

This theory, while a nice little story, is deeply rooted in paranoia and wide of the mark.

Paranoia is a familiar guest in the city of Glasgow, particularly when it comes to the rivalry between the two big Glasgow clubs.

The idea becomes even more entrenched when your rivals seem to be two or three steps ahead of you. However, it’s crucial to note that such paranoia often acts as a diversion, masking the actual issues and shortcomings within a club.

The silent suspicions within The Rangers serve as a prime example of this. Instead of confronting their own deficiencies and striving for improvement, there is an internal tendency to attribute their struggles to external forces.

While the club has undoubtedly faced challenges and unfair situations, focusing on unspoken conspiracy theories detracts from the need for introspection and internal growth.

The reality is, Celtic current supremacy is not the result of some elaborate conspiracy but rather the outcome of strategic planning, effective management, and on-field performance. They are, quite simply, streets ahead of their rivals. This is an uncomfortable truth for Rangers to grapple with internally.

Peter Lawwell is an astute businessman who has helped the SPFL in all ways, just like Celtic continues to help promote the game and lead the league to new sources of revenue.

  1. What, “challenges and unfair situations” did Rangers face? If anything they were unfairly helped, as they were allowed to remain in senior football, unlike other clubs that went bust! Another case of rewriting history, or me being paranoid?
