John Kennedy has spoken about the return of Callum McGregor, with the Scottish midfielder currently sidelined through injury.

With McGregor rumoured to be back for next Sunday’s Glasgow derby, Kennedy gave an interesting answer, keeping his cards close to his chest and not giving any details away to Rangers.

Kennedy said: [BBC Sportsound] “Will Callum be back for next week? Hopefully, hopefully. We’ll see how he goes during the week, he’s not trained as yet but he’s improving so we’ll take each day as it comes along the way and see what it brings.”

McGregor will be missed if he does not play against Rangers, given his immense impact in the reverse fixture in December.

Celtic appears to be managing the Hoops’ captain’s injury, but if the injury is more serious, it could lead to further setbacks before the end of the season.

With the title race likely to go down to the wire the sooner McGregor comes back the sooner Celtic will be closer to their best.

  1. As big as a player calmac is against the scum, where he’s had his best games this season for ourselves imo?
Still don’t feel a need to panic if calmac should be unavailable?
Think iwata has done very well in filling in for calmac in the position, and getting stronger and better since his own return from injury also?
Would be hard upon iwata to lose his place for the scum game, but calmac really rises to the occasion far more times than not.
But getting ourselves back to very decent options available to ourselves for a full 90 minutes, that will be required, is only a massive boost to ourselves for the scum game imo?
