Fallout from Celtic’s 3-2 win over Rangers on Saturday has continued well into this week. Ange Postecoglou’s focus will now fully be on Kilmarnock although that doesn’t mean others have stopped talking about last Saturday.

Kenny Miller is the latest to do so and he has now backtracked on recent comments and has said that he didn’t give Celtic as much credit as they deserve and that their work rate is ‘unbelievable’ (Go Radio via The Scottish Sun):

“And when Celtic saw mistakes? Kyogo, ruthless. Jota, working ever so hard. He didn’t give up on a lost cause and he got his reward.

“Celtic made the most of their time. They get a lot of credit for the way they play, but see the way they set up against the ball as well?

“It’s unbelievable how hard they worked to go and stop Rangers.”

Miller is spot on here. Celtic’s set up and sharpness allows them to immediately latch on to any lost causes in the opposition defence and capitalise on any mistakes.

This was certainly the case on Saturday as all of Rangers’ significant errors were punished clinically.

Miller is correct when saying Rangers could’ve been more careful with the ball and had they been so, the silly errors they made might not have transpired. Nevertheless, the former Scotland striker admitted he hadn’t gave the Hoops sufficient praise:

“I thought Rangers could have been better on the ball, but maybe I wasn’t giving Celtic enough credit for how they set up also.”

It is interesting that Miller is only noticing how well Celtic can capitalise on mistakes and how much graft they put in four or five days after the derby.

Being an ex pro, one would imagine he can recognise things like this earlier but that is not the case.

Potentially, however, Miller was looking at the game too much through blue tinted spectales without recognising how sharp Celtic actually were.
