When it comes to assessing the game on a superficial level, some of the unsung heroes over any particular 90 minutes will often get criticised for what they didn’t do rather than what they did do.

Patryk Klimala’s performance against Aberdeen would be an example of the superficial analysis of the game — plenty quick to point out his shortcomings I.e missed opportunities. That should be highlighted but so should his positive play.

This passing chart below shows Paddy sticking with his striking partner. While having interplay between both Turnbull and Jonjoe Kenny throughout the game.

His intelligent running off the ball and ability to peel off defenders can go unnoticed during a game, especially when the service isn’t there.

However, the biggest gripe from Saturday was Patryk getting into positions but squandering the chances when they came. He certainly must improve on his killer instincts and at Celtic you’re always going to be judged on goals as a striker.

Given his lack of any real game time or run, the Polish frontman was an integral part of the winning goal.

Highlighted by our social media team — watch Patryk drag the two nearest Aberdeen defenders to Eddy away from the Frenchman to create the space for a shot.

It’s poor defending from Aberdeen but it again highlights the need for a striker creating space and causing problems for defenders. Eddy gets lucky with the deflection in the end.

The goal came from a 65 second period of passing from the hoops which started with Scott Bain. Aberdeen tried to press Celtic in their own box and it proved their undoing for the second time in ten days.
