It has been reported that La Liga side Atletico Madrid are planning a scouting trip to the World Cup to watch Celtic defender Josip Juranovic [Football Scotland].
The 27-year-old has been linked to moves away from the Hoops in recent months with Atletico supposedly showing interest in the former Legia Warsaw star during the summer.
Juranovic’s Croatia side will take on Brazil in the quarter final of the World Cup this coming Friday having progressed to the last eight after beating his fellow Celtic teammate Daizen Maeda’s Japan team on penalties.
Jura as he is known by his Celtic teammates has been a consistent performer for his national side at the tournament having played every minute of game time for Croatia so far.
He is expected to leave the Scottish champions this January after the arrival of Canadian defender Alistair Johnston with many believing that he is Juranovic’s ready made replacement. Although, the Croat is contracted to Celtic until 2026 meaning that Ange Postecoglou has complete control over the situation after it was reported that contract talks had broken down between both parties.
Reports in Spain have stated that the Spanish side are likely to send someone to take a closer look at Juranovic as he goes up against some of the world’s best.
Having impressed at the World Cup so far, it is hoped that his stock will continue to rise so that Celtic can have the best chance of receiving the maximum price tag.
