LEIGH GRIFFITHS has revealed he doesn’t see his Celtic career as over now he’s on a season long loan at Dundee.

The striker has one-year left on his Celtic deal and it will run out before he’s due back at Lennoxtown – leaving him a free agent as of next season.

Tell that to Leigh though. The Scottish striker has claimed he will be trying to impress Ange Postecoglou while at Dundee and play his way to a new deal.

“He’ll be watching how I’m doing. I need to look forward, especially playing in a good, attacking side here, to show I can still cut it.” Leigh told SunSport.

“No, not at all. I am still contracted there and he can get access to all my games.

“Everybody’s emotional state is going to take a bit of a dive when you’re not playing.

“It’s just about trying to stay focused, stay calm, do what you can in training and wait for your opportunity.

“For me, that opportunity at Celtic didn’t come.

“So I’m looking forward to being here, showing what I can do and hopefully going back to Celtic a better player.”

Either this is face saving comments or the player is in denial about the end of his Celtic career.

Leigh had a great first half of his Hoops adventure. However, things dipped and a combination of mental health issues and fitness problems left Leigh on the shelf.

His blistering goal scoring season for the hoops under Ronny Deila is just a distant memory.

The club shouldn’t have handed Leigh a one-year extension in the first place. We were so short at the start of the summer it became a numbers game rather than keeping Griffiths at the club on merit.

Leigh’s Celtic career is over.

  1. I would have Leigh Griffiths in my team every week, even bringing him off the Bench. He is a deadly proven goal scorer.
Shot ourselves in the foot, me thinks
