Leigh Griffiths Takes Major Dig at Neil Lennon

LEIGH GRIFFITHS is now a Dundee player and his association with Celtic is pretty much over. Once his loan deal at Dundee runs out – his Celtic contract will be at an end.

The first half of Leigh’s Celtic career was brilliant but the second half brought a lot of upheaval, the player dealing with mental health issues and then latterly his personal fitness became a major issue.

Neil Lennon left him out of a pre season trip to France at the beginning of last season and during the Irishman’s final months in charge, Leigh was continually left out the side.

After Lennon left his role as Celtic manager, the pair have gone after each other through media outlets. Asked about the former manager today, Leigh said he didn’t want to continue a tit for tat thing, before accusing the former Celtic manager of using him to stay relevant in the media because he’s looking for a job.

The striker also said there would be a few words exchanged if they bumped into each other in the street.

Speaking to RecordSport, Leigh said:

“I don’t really want to keep talking about him because he is going to come back and he is going to have his bit to say.

“I don’t want to go tit for tat. I have said my piece, he has said his.

“I just want to leave it there. If I ever see him in the street, then we will probably have a couple of words to say to each other.

“But I am not going to keep battering him in the press because I don’t want it to be all about what Neil Lennon says to keep him in the loop kind of thing. He is out of a job now and he is trying to keep himself relevant.

“For me it is all about my time here at Dundee and making sure I am playing well, scoring goals and helping the team hit that top six.”

I’m sure Neil will rebuttal now. I don’t think these two can help themselves.

Neil Lennon has been very outspoken in the media – refusing to take any blame for last season and laying it at everyone else’s door.
