LEIGH GRIFFITHS has reportedly been sent home by the club and is under investigation for an Instagram message which appeared online this week.
SunSport claim the Celtic striker, who just signed a new one-year deal with the Hoops is being probed by the club over the incident.
A spokesperson told SunSport: “We have been made aware of online comments concerning Leigh Griffiths. The Club will now look into this matter carefully.
“Leigh has left the Club’s training camp as we do this.
“It would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this time.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We have been made aware of social media content. We are making enquiries and assessing for criminality.”
Celtic had just handed the frontman a lifeline when this has come out.
We need to let the club investigate the matter and take any appropriate action they see fit to take.
Celtic are currently in Wales on a pre-season training camp where Leigh was pictured earlier this week.
The bhoys are going on without him and won 3-1 against Sheffield Wednesday in their first friendly tie.
The Hoops have Charlton and Bristol City at Dragon Park before heading back to Glasgow.
Albian Ajeti got among the goals on Wednesday and will likely be in consideration for Celtic’s Champions League qualifier with Leigh’s status now in question.
