Hibernian manager Jack Ross has spoken out on the Edinburgh sides possible interest in Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.

Griffiths has recently been linked with moves away from Parkhead with his contract situation still not being resolved and it could see the 30-year old leave in the summer.

As quoted by the Scotsman, when Ross was asked about the Celtic frontman being a possible summer target, he was coy to speak about his availability with him still being contracted to Celtic but admitted it may be a move they look to make should that arise.

“First of all, he’s not a player who as of yet will be available. He’s still contracted to Celtic and there’s nothing to say he won’t be, as things stand.

“It is an easy connection to make because of his association with the club and his time at Hibs before but I would temper that by saying, is he a player we have admiration for? Of course, because his goalscoring record is up there with the best in Scotland over recent years.

“It may be something that should the opportunity arise, it would be something we’d discuss.

“But it’s not something we have been able to discuss in any detail because he’s not a player, as of yet, who will be available.”

As Ross mentions, Griffiths of course has links to the club having had a previous spell there and also being a boyhood fan of the Leith side.

When it comes to his future in Glasgow, it is one that the Parkhead chiefs will have to make within the next few weeks, to decide if he will sign an extension and remain at the club for a further year.

It is a big call to make but I think it might be the time we cut our ties with the once 40 goal a season striker.
