New summer signing Liam Scales has spoken out about the versatility that he can offer for Ange Postecoglou at the back.

As quoted by Sun Sport, there have been some questions from fans as to what position the Irishman may play for the Hoops, being capable in several areas of the park on the left side of the defence.

The 23-year old revealed he does not feel like he has a ‘strongest’ position and is just as capable in each of them in terms of ability and strength.

Asked what his best position is, Scales said: “I’d say left-sided centre-back or left-back.

“Last season with Shamrock Rovers, I was playing left wing-back.

“I don’t necessarily think I have a strongest position. I think I can cover all areas as strong as each other.”

Over the transfer window, fans were asking for some quality in-depth, especially when it came to defenders, and fingers crossed, that is what we have with Scales.

Of course, there will be some questions over a possible step-up for the left-sided defender coming from the Irish League. However, he has also played in European football with his former side and recently received a call-up to his international side.

The recruitment done so far has looked mostly successful, so we must have full faith in Ange over whether he sees Scales as a good asset for the squad.

He already seems to have worked wonders for certain players in turning their fortunes around and becoming key players in the side. That development under Ange could be crucial for Scales to become a Celtic first-team player.
