ANGE POSTECOGLOU praised his young defender Adam Montogomery who showed real composure at Aberdeen to set up the winner for Jota in the final ten minutes.

The Hoops youngster has enjoyed a lot of game time through injuries this season and he’s trusted over Boli Bolingoli to go out and help the team.

One interesting tidbit from Ange’s praise of the Celtic academy star was Ange admitting Liam Scales isn’t quite ready yet.

As quoted by SunSport, the Postecoglou said: “For him and Tony Ralston this is their first sort of steps in senior football for Celtic. We knew it was going to be tough going for Monty this year. With Greg Taylor out and Liam Scales not quite ready yet he was the one that we were going to rely on.

“We had some challenging opponents. They were physical and we had to put in a physical battle, but you see the quality in the front third and he showed tremendous composure.

“It was a simple pass across the goal, but at the end of the game when you need to win he showed that composure. He is a very talented young player and hopefully he continues to do that.”

Shamrock Rovers were playing Liam before his move to Celtic, but the demands Ange puts on his players means their fitness has to be right up there in order for them to be a success. We’ve seen it with quite a few of the new bhoys – they have been held off while they get up to speed on the training ground.

Scales will have to wait and hope that a two week international break will be enough to get him up to speed and ready for some meaningful game time.

All the defender has had to this point is a shot second half spell against Raith Rovers in the League Cup.

  1. Two players signed a month ago still not ready. At a time when we are crippled by injuries and need all the help we can get. When will we see the Greek guy? Why buy players if they are not available for important games.

  2. Montgomery is good prospect, but not as a full back. Perhaps in central midfield. I think we should play Juranovic and Scales there, when available.
