Former Celtic defender Jeremie Frimpong has been attracting the attention of some very big clubs in recent times. It’s now being reported Manchester Utd are seriously looking into signing the Dutch under 21 international in January.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports reports the player is on a list of potential candidates at Old Trafford.

Jeremie was signed for Celtic under Neil Lennon and spent 18 months at the club before making a surprise big money move to Leverkusen for £11.5m.

It’s believed Celtic have a sell-on clause on their former bhoy and would benefit from any large transfer fee coming the German club’s way.

Frimpong has been continuing to develop in the Bundesliga. The former Man City man burst onto the scene at Celtic very quickly after signing. Jeremie was brought in with a few young players from down south, and within weeks he had been plucked from the youth team and placed in the first team squad.

Celtic fans took to the player’s infectious personality, but when it all turned sour during the pandemic season, and Neil Lennon lost the dressing room, Frimpong wanted out. Leverkusen came in with a large bid in a time of financial uncertainty for all clubs due to fans being locked out of stadiums. Celtic took the cash and Frimpong moved on. He could now be heading for even greater heights in the next few years.
