Marco Tilio has suffered a major injury setback while out on loan from Celtic at Australian top-tier side Melbourne City.

The 22-year-old wasn’t in the squad for his side’s defeat to Macarthur FC last Friday, and it has now been confirmed by his gaffer Aurelio Vidmar (via The West Australian) that he is set to be sidelined for up to six weeks with a hamstring tendon injury.

Tilio sustained the issue in training. He promptly went for some scans and the extent of the problem was soon confirmed.

The Australian youth international will miss the upcoming international break and be unavailable for his country’s under-23s, whom he was expected to be called up for.

His injury is a blow for City going into a crucial A-League run-in in which they have just eight games remaining. The potential for Tilio to develop while away from Celtic has undoubtedly been sliced by this issue.

It was an arduous start to life in Glasgow for the Aussie when he first joined the Hoops, and it seems as though he can’t catch a break no matter where he goes.
