MICHAEL BEALE has returned to Ibrox just over a year after he left alongside Steven Gerrard and has praised his Glasgow counterpart Ange Postecoglou for what he’s done at Celtic.

He returns to Glasgow to take over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst who was sacked from the job sitting nine points behind Celtic.

Beale inherits the mess that sees his new club nine points off the top spot and out of Europe, with the club likely expecting something from the cups rather than the league.

The new Ibrox manager has conceded it will be a challenge to catch Celtic but has promised the support that they’ll try to chase Ange Postecoglou’s high-flying Celtic. Beale said: [Football Scotland]

“It’s going to be difficult. Ange has got a team with momentum. Fair play to him for the job he’s done until this point.

“My job is to chase him down. The players job is to chase him down. That’s a mentality shift from how we look at things.

“When I left here we were the one in front so the mentality has shifted and we have to chase them down.”

Celtic have been on incredible form, and for The Rangers to have a sniff at the league, the bhoys would need to drop points on a good few occasions while The Rangers have a perfect run. Based on the start of the season, which saw Celtic drop points just once, this doesn’t look likely.
