IBROX gaffer Michael Beale believes The Rangers are half a team of signings away from being able to challenge Celtic. The Englishman has thrown his players under the bus, admitting they’re not good enough.

The gaffer, who’s about to finish his first season as a manager, has already conducted facetoface meetings with potential targets and is eager to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season as they look to challenge Celtic’s dominance.

Beale believes that he needs “four or five” new players to walk through the door to compete with Celtic, with many of their top stars destined to leave and contracts expiring.

The gaffer is still fuming over last week’s result as he admits he’s going to need to bring many players in this summer, saying: [Football Scotland]

“Since I’ve come in, there’s obviously been the one result in the league that was disappointing which was last weekend. I thought we played quite well in the game and the result went against us. On another day, it could have gone for us.

“I think right now, this group has probably given me what they can, and we’re probably four or five players away from being where I want us to be. That’s nothing against the players that are playing just now, it will just make us stronger.”

How demotivating must this be to his squad, especially with a semi-final just a few weeks away? He’s pretty much told them they’re not god enough to win against Celtic!

Whether he believes this or not, Beale shouldn’t be stating so in the press, showing he hasn’t learned to keep his mouth shut.

Beale has indirectly admitted that Celtic are setting the standards, and it’s up to his side to chase the country’s finest team. Ange Postecoglou isn’t going to stand still this summer, as he prepares to add more quality to the squad over the summer.

  1. So the snide conducting face to face meetings with players means he still only in the market for players about to be out of contract?
So how good can the likes be and certainly nothing to be worried about if there present club don’t think there good enough to warrant a new contract
