MICHAEL STEWART challenged Livingston boss Gary Holt’s summation of the game at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon. The Livi gaffer said:

“If the goals are world class goals, and Celtic are a world class team, they really are, they have a lot of pace and movement but we never got cut open, we nullified their threats.” he told RecordSport.

“The goals are horrible, there’s no great play or someone has smashed it from 20 yards into the top corner. It’s individual mistakes we need to look at.”

Speaking on Sportscene analysing the game on Sunday evening, the former Hearts and Hibs man took exception to the horrible goal claim by the Livi boss but also made sure everyone knew Celtic weren’t ‘world class’.

“Look, there were a couple of things there that were a wee bit over the top. The Celtic goals weren’t horrible.” Stewart told Sportscene as cited by Record Sport.

“I don’t think Celtic are world class, they are certainly the top team in the country and they are doing very well in Europe but world class? Perhaps that is a step too far.”

Celtic swept aside Livingston with a 4-0 win. The away side tried to disrupt, shoulder and bully their way through the game as they did earlier in this season only Celtic weren’t biting.

Holt seems a bit upset by the goals but if he’s calling Edouard’s goal horrible and he believes they never got cut open then the man is clearly watching an entirely different game.

The bhoys were brilliant and were good value for their 4-0 lead on the day. Livingston’s Dykes was isolated and in the end, nullified once he was yellow carded and couldn’t throw himself about and into challenges.

  1. Livingston are a horrible, bullying and dirty team, devoid of any positive ideas. No wonder there are very home supporters. Their aim is only to destroy games.
Holt obviously had not got a clue about the game and Livingston had better ditch him quickly.
    Such negativity is never attractive.

On the other hand, Celtic were their usual positive and adventurous self and their football was miles ahead of any of the crude tactics of Livingston.
