BBC man and former Hearts player Michael Stewart has thrown his weight behind Hearts going after Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon in January to bring the treble treble star’s career full circle.

Gordon played at Tynecastle and it was there he won his big money move down south to Sunderland. After debilitating injuries and a potential early retirement – Celtic handed Gordon a lifeline once he got himself fit and he’s never looked back.

In recent times, the player has found first team football hard to come by. Losing his first team spot at Celtic at the turn of last year after a defeat at Ibrox. Bain took over as number one and now Fraser Forster is the man in between the sticks for Celtic.

Gordon is likely to be in goals for Celtic on Saturday against Hibernian but Michael Stewart believes the Celtic stopper is the right man to shore up Hearts.

“I don’t think there’s any need for a drastic overhaul. The quality is there.” Stewart told Sun Sport.

“One thing I’d be looking to do is try and get Craig Gordon back from Celtic.

“That’s because all of the keepers Levein has signed are nowhere near good enough.

“But there’s certainly enough for any new man worth his salt to come in and work with right away.”
