Celtic have had countless players pass through the Parkhead gates to turn out for the great football club. What their futures look like after they wear hoops, however, varies.

Many go on to excel elsewhere while some retire and others end up becoming journeymen. The latter is a term that could be used to describe Ben Wylie.

Despite his youthful age of 21, Wylie has turned out for Celtic, Ballymena United, Airdrie, Ytterhogdals, and now, Cliftonville. The midfielder recently signed for the Northern Irish side but has admitted he’d still be in Glasgow if it weren’t for injury.

While with The Bhoys, Wylie experienced many troubles with his knee: “It was ligaments in and around the knee”, he said (Belfast Live). “It kept setting me back several weeks each time it happened. But I still stand by that I would still be at Celtic if I hadn’t got those injuries.”

At 21, Wylie would have likely been pushing for a first-team place if he was still a Celtic player. Sometimes, however, things don’t work out but in his time in the game already, he has gained some vital experiences.

The things he’s gone through will only put him in good stead for his career that at the minute, is only getting started.
