Paolo Bernardo is currently enjoying his longest run in the side since moving to Glasgow on loan in the summer. The Benfica loanee scored his third goal in four games against Buckie Thislte, chipping the ‘keeper to give the Celts a first-half lead.

The Portuguese winger was in the side who just managed past Ross County last weekend.

It’s well known that Celtic have an option to buy the 21-year-old, with Brendan Rodgers admitting last week that the fee involved is realistic for the club to shell out.

This will encourage many supporters because, over the past month or so, the Portugal under-21 internationalist has come to the fore. Few would have expected Bernardo to be a key player for the Scottish champions given how his first couple of months went in Glasgow, but he has undergone quite the upturn.

Bernardo was asked about his long-term future at Celtic and whether he has discussed the possibility of extending his stay in Glasgow with Brendan Rodgers: “No”, he said (Glasgow Times).

“He (Rodgers) and me just want to keep the things going well and to improve a lot.

“I am enjoying it a lot. The fans are unbelievable and they like me, so I am feeling good too. I just have to keep going and doing things well.”
