MORITZ JENZ has revealed he was desperate to sign for Celtic last season but the deal didn’t happen for whatever reason

The German defender was announced as a Celtic player on Tuesday afternoon and in his first interview with the club, the player confirmed last season’s rumour that Celtic tried to sign him before Lorient swooped in.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be here. It was a dream for me since last year. I really wanted to come here last year and finally that dream’s come true to play for a massive club”

Celtic were in a mess last year. Ange had to pull a squad together in very little time. During that period we signed Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers to become our new first team centre-back pairing.

It worked out well because has we signed Jenz at the time, we might not have moved for CCV — now we have both players!

Jenz will likely become a back-up or someone who will work in rotation with the first choice centre-backs. Celtic have a huge schedule and will play around 60 games before all is said and done.

The bhoys have the option to buy Moritz at the end of the season if he impresses. Let’s hope the big man can make a big contribution
