It has been reported that a host of English Premier League sides as well as Villareal are interested in signing former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele [Foot Mercato].

The 26-year old made an instant impact when he made the switch to Glasgow under Brendan Rodgers and thrived under the Irishman.

He would leave the Hoops in 2018 having won six trophies in Scotland and scoring 51 goals during his two year stay.

Dembele made the move to Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for a fee reported to be around £20 million with Celtic including a sell-on-fee in his contract.

The Frenchman presently has one year remaining of his five-year deal with teams such as Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbache willing to hold off for a year before signing the striker on a free transfer next summer.

At present, Lyon are looking to put pressure on players who only have a short time left on their contract to decide their future so they can profiteer off any player who isn’t willing to extend their stay at the club.

Dembele’s future will ultimately be decided this summer with the club already in contract talks with him.

It would be far more beneficial to Celtic if the player is to move for a substantial amount of money with the striker finishing as Lyon’s top goalscorer last season.

Having the sell-on-fee included means that the Hoops would receive a windfall for any transfer that Dembele decides away from France with teams such as Everton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and West Ham all showing an interest in the striker as well as Villareal.

  1. Lyon will struggle to get £10m for him with less than 12 months on his contract so Celtic won’t see anything from his sale. Don’t see the point in this post as Celtic don’t benefit…..🤷‍♂️
