NEIL LENNON has moved to assure Leigh Griffiths of his place in the squad and reiterated the player only missed out today because he has a calf injury.

The sort of injuries which are a result of the player training intensely after turning up unfit.

Neil confirmed there’s an investigation into Leigh’s conduct surrounding a house party where distancing was not observed. The Celtic manager has today played down the incident and believes Leigh will be absolved in the coming days.

“The club are conducting an investigation. I’m not convinced it’s a big issue, so, hopefully, it will be resolved in a couple of days.” Lennon told CelticTV.

“He’s not fit, he’s got a calf strain at the moment, so he would have missed the game anyway.”

The team dropped two early points in the SPFL coming up against a stubborn Kilmarnock side but it has to be said the team lacked any sort of edge or dig on the day.

Can Leigh provide that spark on days like Sunday?

It’s St Mirren up next for the bhoys followed by Aberdeen next Saturday. Still a long way to go but Celtic can’t afford too many off days in the next three months.
