Neil Lennon has said that his players no longer want to feel the ‘wrath’ of the supporters who have been heavily critical of them so far this season.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Lennon admitted the players have been on poor form but they now want to bounce back and get a reaction. He also claimed that some of the off form players may have thought they had done their bit and wanted to move on.

“I just think, for me, since the start of the season, the lack of atmosphere has definitely been to our detriment. I’m not using that as a whole excuse but players at this club who have been here a long time feed off the energy.

“Whether it be friendly roar or a hostile atmosphere they get their buzz from that. That’s not there.

“Some have been inconsistent, there’s no question, and have had a dip in form. Some have maybe thought they’d done their bit here and it’s time to move on to pastures new.

“But I think they’re very focused now on what the reaction can be when they come off it. They’ve felt the wrath of the fans and they don’t want to feel that again.”

After many poor performances this season, which has seen the Bhoys exit the League Cup and Europe, whilst also being 13 points behind in the league, fans have been right to criticise the team.

Of course, there are ways to do it and some of the scenes we saw a couple of weeks ago went a little far.

The majority of fans have been left frustrated though, with a lot of disappointing moments throughout the season and we are only in December.

In the last two games, performances and results have improved so hopefully, this can be the turning point we have been waiting on.

At this stage though, we have to take each game one at a time and build from there to get our season back on track.
