Celtic’s short and long-term transfer plans could be impacted by Brexit with possible new rules set to come into place when the transfer window opens on the 1st of January.

As reported by the Daily Record, the SFA are set to go into talks with the home office after fears that new Brexit rules could affect transfer plans next month for the entire country.

In recent days it has been revealed that the Hoops could be set to make a move for long-time target, Mark McKenzie who plays in the MLS for Philadelphia Union. This transfer could be one of the first scuppered by this change to transfer plans.

There have previously been problems in Scotland with work permits but is set to become even more of a problem for clubs in this country to sign players from certain countries across the globe.

The SFA have stepped in and written to the UK Government in order to try and make a special case for Scottish Football, that would see the current rules stay in place this January before a new points system being introduced after this window.
