NEIL LENNON has told BT Sport, live on air, that it was an easy decision to start Albian Ajeti upfront as he views Leigh as an impact player at the moment.

Some were hoping Griffiths would start against Lille after scoring a quality goal against Aberdeen at the weekend. The Celtic gaffer still believes Leigh has some way to go to be fully match fit and wants to keep him ready on the bench to make an impact.

“Leigh is an impact player at the moment, he’s not fully, fully match fit.” Lennon told BT Sport.

“We have him on the bench to come on and make an impact later on”

The player has not been seen as a first pick since last season. Coming back from lockdown out of shape, Leigh has had to play the waiting game while working very hard to get back into the manager’s good graces.

Hopefully we won’t need an impact player to come on to try and save the game, but instead, to consolidate our position.
