Celtic confirmed that last season would be Nir Bitton’s last at Celtic and that he’d become a free agent in the summer.

Neil Lennon has been looking to strengthen his Omonia side as they prepare for Europe next season and is looking to tempt Nir Bitton to the club. The former Celtic boss has already signed Adam Matthews, who was also without a club. [Sport 5]

It was thought that the Cypriot side was keen to bring Ismailia Soro to the side, but later reports ruled that out. Now, it appears the attention has turned to his former teammate.

Deja Vu for Bitton

Bitton has already turned down an offer from his own country because the financial package wasn’t suitable, so Lennon has some convincing to do as Omonia doesn’t have the biggest budget.

The report also states that it’s unlikely that Omonia will match Bitton’s demands, meaning any approach made by the club is pretty much pointless.

But Lennon could have the upper hand, working with the midfielder in the past; the Northern Irish gaffer can also offer Group Stage European football to the midfielder.
