Speaking on TALKsport on Monday morning, Neil Lennon said the he believes that the board have got the best manager for the job, as they always set out to bring the very best to the club.

He said:

“What the Celtic board do is get the best candidate for the job. Brendan ticks all the boxes. He’s a fantastic manager, he’s been there before and had great results the last time.”

Rodgers, who previously managed Celtic from 2016 to 2019, is set to take over from Ange Postecoglou for his second stint at the helm. During his previous tenure, Rodgers led the club to multiple domestic successes, including two trebles.

Lennon believes that the lure of the Champions League, for which Celtic have already qualified for the group stages, will be a significant factor in Rodgers’ decision to return.

“From his point of view, the Champions League is a big lure for him,” Lennon said. “I think he’ll really want to get his teeth into that.”

Lennon also highlighted the importance of continuing Celtic’s success both domestically and in Europe.

“You endeavour to win the league and endeavour to further Celtic’s reputation in Europe,” he said. “With the quality of teams and managers that Brendan will come up against, I think he’ll relish it.”

Rodgers’ announcement seems imminent, and the fans are growing very excited for the appointment.
