Ange Postecoglou, the former Celtic manager who recently moved to Tottenham, had targeted both Strachan and Kennedy as part of his new backroom team. However, Desmond’s intervention means that Postecoglou will have to look elsewhere to fill his coaching staff.

Postecoglou has already turned to Chris Davies, Brendan Rodgers’ former assistant, to fill the assistant role at Tottenham.

Now, with Strachan staying at Celtic, Postecoglou is reportedly eyeing Australian Mile Jedinak as another potential addition to his staff.

Desmond’s decision to keep Strachan and Kennedy at Celtic comes as he played a key role in securing the return of Brendan Rodgers to the club.

Rodgers, who previously managed Celtic from 2016 to 2019, is set to take over from Postecoglou for his second stint at the helm.

The move to keep Strachan and Kennedy at Celtic underlines Desmond’s commitment to maintaining stability at the club as they navigate this period of transition.

With Rodgers’ return and the retention of key coaching staff, Celtic is poised to build on their success in the upcoming season.
