NEIL LENNON believes there’s an outside chance Leigh Griffiths could play in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts at the end of May but only if he proves he’s up to the task!

The striker has been out since December with personal issues but Celtic released a statement a few weeks back intimating the frontman is beginning a phased return to work.

The interim Celtic manager has revealed Leigh hasn’t properly started training with the rest of the squad yet but he has given a timeline of how a Scottish Cup appearance could be possible.

“What have we got until the Cup Final, six weeks? Yeah. It’s realistic.” Lennon told SunSport.

“But he’ll have to play and train at least two weeks going into that, so he then has a target of four weeks.

What this does mean is Leigh is now in contention to play some part in proceedings during the final Glasgow Derby of the season if Neil believes he could play in the Scottish Cup.

Leigh would love to be part of a team that goes to Ibrox looking for a win and has enjoyed plenty of success there in the past.
