Neil Lennon has began to reintegrate himself in to the Scottish football scene after being sacked from Omonoia this season.

The Irishman won the Cypriots a trophy and got them into the Europa League against all odds but it wasn’t enough to save his job despite being minutes away from a draw at Old Trafford during the first half of the season.

The Irishman is back in Scotland and that will inevitably mean he’s picked up for commentary on Scottish football.

Speaking this week; Neil discussed the gap between Celtic and The Rangers. Could the Ibrox club gain ground on Ange Postecoglou’s men. The former two time Celtic boss drawing on experience of bridging a massive gap and winning the title eleven years ago.

Neil told SunSport: “Michael will feel that it is not insurmountable and there are other examples — even apart from our one.

“Down south Kevin Keegan and Alex Ferguson both blew bigger leads than Celtic have to be pipped at the finish line.

“You can draw on your own experience as well as other people’s when it comes to gaps like that being overturned and try to use that. The problem Michael has is that Celtic don’t look as though they’re going to lose too many matches and Rangers have been dropping points to Hibs, Livingston, St Johnstone and St Mirren.

“Rangers have left themselves with no room for error because, domestically, Celtic have been imperious.

“Ange’s signings have been excellent. You just need to see how well they’ve done at the World Cup.

“Josip Juranovic was man of the match against Brazil.

“And Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy and Cameron Carter-Vickers were also terrific.

“This Celtic team is great to watch. They have vibrancy and speed and they play with real intensity.

“There is a constant ambition to score goals whenever they have the ball and whatever the scoreline may be and that all comes from the manager.”

To his credit, Neil has it spot on. There’s always a chance Celtic can be gotten at but it will take a monumental effort.

The Ibrox club should enjoy a new manager bounce for a few games. They’re certainly enjoying a bounce from the media.

Celtic begin a tough festive period on Saturday with a game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. These games could set the tone for the next few months. It’s pivotal for both sides to get off to a winning start.

The bhoys should be back to nearly full strength by Saturday.
