Celtic winger Mikey Johnston seems to have been the centre of attention lately. After making a drastic impact off the bench against St. Johnstone at the weekend, the 24-year-old is eager to rejuvenate his Parkhead career.

Brendan Rodgers believes in him, but his former gaffer Neil Lennon has revealed one of the key pitfalls of his game. He said (PLZ Soccer): “He gets very frustrated very quickly if things aren’t going for him, and that overrides what he should be doing. He lets the mental side of the game get the better of him.”

As well as these factors, injuries haven’t helped Johnston either. Recently, though, he has got his head down and worked.

He had a solid year on loan in Portugal last season and he has stayed injury-free and worked hard to gain another opportunity in Glasgow. Lennon, however, thinks it could be his last. He said: “He’s not even a kid anymore Mikey, he must be 24, 25 so he’ll be saying this his last chance saloon at Celtic and he’s got to play, but not just play, play consistently well.”

Fans have been encouraged by the attacker’s recent performances. He changed the game at the weekend, and Rodgers admitted he could be in line for a start soon.
