Neil Lennon has ridiculed the comments made by Hearts player Loic Damour after he claimed Scott Brown makes up his own rules and thinks he’s king of the league.

When asked about the comments directed at his captain, Neil Lennon was quick to disregard the comments and joked about the player receiving king like treatment.

“King of the league? Browny’s fine – he’s wearing a toga and being fanned and fed grapes by a bevvy of beauties!” Lennon joked to CelticTV.

“There were a lot of things going on at Tynecastle. Scott was on a booking and they were doing all they could to get him sent off.”

“I thought he kept his discipline brilliantly. I wasn’t overly enamoured with Bobby Madden’s performance that night but he is a top referee and Browny doesn’t referee these games, the officials do.

“It’s a ludicrous comment from a player who’s probably been in Scotland for about three months.

“I thought Browny was fantastic in that second half.

“We’d told him to be careful because he has been cautioned but he was majestic, if you’ll pardon the use of that word. He’s been outstanding all season.”

The Celtic manager is absolutely correct – once Scott Brown got yellow card the Hearts players were going in heavy on the Celtic star hoping to get a reaction. Instead, it spurred the Celtic captain on and he was instrumental in Celtic’s second when he won the ball in the middle of the park before setting James Forrest on his way.

There are a lot of players and supporters who are consumed by Scott Brown and what he’s done and still doing at Celtic. They can’t stop talking about the player. His achievements to date are up there with the very best and for someone who is labeled a dirty player, his record of red cards is very low over the piece.

Scott Brown takes a lot of lumps on the pitch but he never lets it get to him.

  1. Broony has won more honours in his 12 years with Celtic than any other team (including Hearts and Sevco) have won in their entire histories.
